Recipe import tutorial

This tutorial leads the new user through the steps to import Living Cookbook recipes.

Click on the hyperlinks next to the arrows to expand each section or click the show all link at the top right of this page.

This tutorial assumes that you have completed the recipe export tutorial.

  1. Select the Recipe Navigator tab.

  2. Open the import dialog.
    1. On the File menu, click Import.
  3. Choose the recipe file type.
    1. Click Food Data Exchange XML.
    2. Click Next.
  4. Choose the import file.
    1. Click the Import File ellipsis button to select a file to import.
    2. Select My Documents from the Look in list.
    3. Select My Recipes.fdx (the file we created in the recipe export tutorial).
    4. Click Open to close the Import File window.
    5. Click Next.
  5. Choose the recipe import options.
    1. Click the Recipe Options ellipsis button .
    2. Under Import Target, click New Cookbook and enter Recipe Import Tutorial in the New Cookbook box..
    3. Under Recipe Elements, select the recipe elements you would like to import (you can select them all, if you like)..
    4. Under Duplicate Recipes, select Import Duplicate Recipes.
    5. Click Next.
    6. Click OK to close the Recipe Import Properties window.
  6. Review the import progress.
    1. The import will start automatically.
    2. You will see the import progress in the Import Log window.
  7. Click Finish to close the window.
  8. Your imported cookbook will be selected in the Recipe tab.
