While most of the 6400 ingredients in the ingredient database only have standard nutritional data, Living Cookbook is capable of storing much more detailed information about ingredients in the notes and comments.

The task toolbar buttons serve as quick links to commonly performed tasks. Clicking a task toolbar button is the same as selecting the corresponding menu item from the task menu.
New - Create a new ingredient
Edit - Edit the selected

Delete - Delete the selected

Refresh - Refresh the
current view
Properties - Modify the properties of the current view

Use the ingredient comments to describe the ingredient in more detail or list other names for the ingredient.
Ingredient notes can be used to display preparation instructions, storage suggestions and shopping hints.
Add images to your ingredient database entries.
Note: Images saved as JPEG or GIF files use the least space on your hard drive. If you own an image or photo editing program, resizing the recipe images to a width of 250 pixels works best.
Choose to display basic nutritional information (what you might see on a can or box) or detailed nutrition (everything from Vitamin A to zinc).
The recipes section lists the first ten recipes in the database which use the ingredient.
