Edit an ingredient

Tip  Click on the hyperlinks next to the arrows to expand each section or click the show all link at the top right of this page.

  1. Select the Ingredient Navigator tab.
  2. How?

  3. Select the ingredient you want to edit.
  4. On the Action menu, click Edit Ingredient.
  5. - or -

    Right-click on the navigator treeview and then, on the popup menu, click Edit Ingredient.

    - or -

    Click Edit on the task toolbar.

  6. Click the Ingredient tab.
  7. Edit the ingredient properties.
    1. Type the name of the ingredient in the Name box.
    2. Click the Ingredient Folder ellipsis button to select an ingredient folder for the ingredient.
    3. Click the Photograph ellipsis button to select a photograph for the ingredient.
    4. Type the source of the ingredient in the Source box.
    5. Type the web page for the source of the ingredient in the Web Page box.
    6. Type the ingredient comments in the Comments box.
    7. Note  Only the ingredient name and ingredient folder are mandatory. All other ingredient information is optional.

  8. Click the Nutrition tab.
  9. Edit the ingredient nutrition information.
    1. Type the serving size in the Serving Size box.
    2. Type the nutrient values in the Nutrient boxes.

      Note  Nutritional information is optional, but if any information is entered, the serving size must be entered also.

      Tip  Vitamin and mineral nutrients can be entered as mass values (e.g. grams, mg, etc.) or as percent of recommended daily allowance (e.g. 7%).

  10. Click the Measures tab.
  11. Enter the ingredient measures.
    1. Click Add to add a new measure.
  12. Click the Shopping tab.
  13. Enter the ingredient shopping information.
    1. If you know the cost of any of the ingredient measures, click Add to add an ingredient measure cost row. Living Cookbook will automatically calculate the costs of the other measures.
    2. Select the preferred store from the Preferred Store list. The preferred store is the location where you most often purchase this ingredient.
    3. Tip  Click the Pantry Item ellipsis button (...) to change the pantry item with which the ingredient is associated.

  14. Click the Notes tab.
  15. Enter the ingredient notes.
    1. Click Add to add a new note.
    2. Tip  Click Move Up or Move Down to change the order of the notes.

  16. Click Check Spelling to check the spelling of the ingredient.

  18. Click OK.
